This is my kind of coin, great strike, beautiful toning and plenty of distinguishing features that I love in early Canadian pieces.

Also, I've heard of 25 cent pieces of this date displaying an A/V. Has anyone seen this feature on a 10 cent piece?

Thanks for looking!

That was supposed to be my coin lol.

Distracted by the kids and missed the auction by 1 minute.

A nice 0/0/0 in the 1870.

The A/V crossed my mind too but its a bit of a stretch :)

You got it for a ridiculous price...i was going to bid at least $300 on it lol.

So would you say no on the A/V then? I know you've seen many of these.

Also, this coin has a few carbon spots. I was wondering if you had any recommendations?

I wouldn't touch it (cleaning wise).

There is some sort of surface flaw between the N and T in CENTS which may keep it from slabbing in a PCGS holder.

I was debating whether the A/V would qualify as a variety. It very well may...but the die is so deteriorated and there's so many die cracks and die chips...that it may not catch on.

That's where I was a bit torn on the coin...the surface flaw between N/T (preventing a PCGS slab) and the A/V.

Still wish I won it though lol

Found this one today at the LCS. Bought it because it is a Narrow 0/0 which is unattributed on the holder and sure enough, it also has an A/V as well!

Maybe a new variety?

Very nice coin!

Well there goes one of my secrets. You've shown that there are two types of 1870 0/0s. ;)

As for the "A/V"...again...being a die chip at the bottom of the V..it may have a hard time catching on...

even the 1872H 25c A/Vs are somewhat mired in controversy..although buyers have shown strong demand for them...

Ultimately...the market will probably decide.

Gorgeous coins...congratulations!
