I could not find very much information on this lens. I purchased a set of these 60mm, 80mm, 105mm. I know this is going to be a very good lens for coins. I see that it is sharp right from the get go. I would imagine the other lens will be also. I will post some photos later from the other 2 lens. here is the first images from the 80mm

rocky...I am doing a 80mm shootout soon and was wondering about this lens. Can you do an aperture sweep from f4.5 through f11 and post the images? I want to know what the best aperture is for sharpness, so I can determine if it is worth including in the shootout as a contender. If good, would you be willing to let me borrow it for the shootout?...Ray

I did a very close inspection of this 80mm computer lens with a microscope. I see fungus on the rear inside element. the seller sold me this lens as mint. there is 2 types of first one grows as like coral. the second 2 are like spider webs. also might be some lens balsam on the outside edges. of the glass. not sure what to do put the manufacture of this lens glued the locking rings. I have dismantled lots of camera lens. I know that if the fungus is not removed it will destroy the glass. I have never dismantled enlarger lens. plus the glue I know will be hard to break. may return this one. dam every thing else is perfect.

I just checked the computar 105 mm under the microscope. it has fungus on all the elements front plus rear. I have not received the 65mm yet same seller. so I imagine same problem. I won a 135mm computar so cheap. if it has fungus I will tear it apart clean and fix it. these other 3 I payed a lot for these. these lens are very hard to come buy. has any body here ever dismantled a computer lens. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I completely dismantled a Olympus 80mm 1:4 cleaned it greased it. reassemble it and it works perfectly. I will check the 65 mm it will be here next week

Yeah, lots of folks don't have a clue about fungus and haze and such in lenses. Or they were lying and hoping you wouldn't have a clue. Either way, fungus is bad and you should either get a full or partial refund. If it's only on the edges, you can kill it by leaving it out in the sun for a few hours. It won't propagate, but it won't go away either. If it's only the edges it probably won't affect the image at all, so will be fine to use, but its resale value if pretty much gone with fungus.

ray hope you read this. I completely dismantled the 105. cleaned all that I could. the rear element. is made up of 3 elements glass the inner next to the aperture separates by a spacer. the out one is made up of 2 elements there is fungus between those elements. just a little tiny bit. ray one time there was a thread. you was showing this group from another forum. you work with macro photography. they was amazed at what you was doing with the pennies. these guys shoot bugs and stuff. after you stopped posting. one of the other member continued adding stuff to that thread. he showed how to rebuild a Rodenstock rodagon 75mm D. he had altered other enlarger lens. my question can you remember that thread. what I would like to know is if fungus can go in between that rear outer element can I separate that lens glass or is that glued. with balsam. if I could find that thread. I would joint that forum to chat with that gentleman. that gentleman is really good at tinkering with lens he is very knowledgeable. about micro macro photography. I know you have done a lot but this would really help. if we can not find that I will maybe tear the 135 computar apart and separate the glass element. ray this lens would fix in your elcheapo thread

just a heads up if you are thinking about purchasing a computar lens. they are prone to fungus. the fungus grows in between the glass of the doublet lens. there is no way to get at this fungus. once the lens has it you can not clean it. so before buying make sure you know what your bidding on or purchasing. have a great one.

rocky...fungus in the balsam between lenses is pretty common. Fungus can eat the balsam as food. I can't tell you about the thread where someone took apart a 75ARD1. I'd actually like to know where that one is myself...Ray

I purchased a total of 5 computar lens. I am still waiting for one a 65mm. the 4 lens I have 2 has fungus issues. 2 has cement issues. I would imagine the 5 one will be the same. I am not sure yet the total cost to get these repaired. I don't know if these computar enlarger lens are worth even purchasing. there are cheaper and better lens out there. if these are the issues this glass has. when I get the total for the repairing them I will post. if is to much. I will make door stops out of them.
