Someone please help me understand how this coin is an AU55. It has a ding on the ear, multiple flat spots in the hair with very little hair definition, flat cheek and jaw, and no definition in the beard. Something is not right here.

According to the PCGS website this is what an AU55 is supposed to look like http://www.PCGS.com/images/photogra...coln-55o.jpg and that coin is over 35 years older than your coin.

Wait, so it takes me 8 weeks to get something back from PCGS, but you got it done at a weekend show? Who was grading this?

TPGs offer on-site grading at shows for high-value items so you do not have to worry about shipping. It costs a crap-ton more to slab, though.

Anyhoo, HOLY COW to the OP! This one is still on my bucket list.

Yup, as suspected, no photos of slabbed coin. Folks, do not be so quick to jump on a bandwagon.
