received this 1904 Newfoundland 50 today. Thought it was a huge scratch but I'm not sure doesn't seem right. Can someone tell me if this is an error. The "scratch" appears to be 'under' the 5. Any help would be appreciated.

Can we see the other side? Looks like a cracked planchet so far..IMO

Looks like a lamination issue.

It's not a die crack obviously, so I would agree that it looks like a problem with delamination of the planchet itself.
