I will be getting the $10 packs of these from the mint as they are made available as I doubt that they will show up in my neck of the woods. I have already ordered the 50 cent coins

Are all the coins released this year going to be commemoratives, or just some of them? If they're all going to be commemoratives, then now would be a good time to stock up on baby sets.

Quote: Are all the coins released this year going to be commemoratives, or just some of them? I suspect that the normal/regular desings will also be minted for circulation in 2016. The press release states that ''more then five million cc of each denomination'' will be minted. However, in the last couple of years, much more coins (4-10 times) were needed for circulation.

...the 2016 commemorative looks quite nice when "in the hand", The Unicorn. And it may come as a bit of a surprise when you meet it "first time round". You look at the ordinary "reverse" of the coin in your change and say to yourself "ho hum..." . Then you turn the coin over and its "eureka..." Squire

My brother just found a 2016 50c at macdonalds and was kind enough to give it to me! 1 down, 5 to go. It was only au though, a couple notches on the rim.

...good to hear that, UberDan In the interim two of my sisters have also found the 2016 50cent Commemorative coin in their change. One was found in Brisbane and the other in Wollongong. So they are definitely out there... However, I have not heard any reports of sightings of the other denominations of 2016 Commemorative coins in circulation.... Squire

I really don't think the others have been released yet. Here is the mint's timeline: 50c - pack of 20 - Thursday 11 February 2016 $2 - pack of 5 - Monday 4 April 2016 $1 - pack of 10 - Monday 6 June 2016 20c - pack of 20 coins - Tuesday 4 October 2016 10c - pack of 40 coins - Tuesday 4 October 2016 5c - pack of 40 coins - Tuesday 4 October 2016 I've also spent the last few weeks noodling 5c, 10c and 20c coins, and the latest year I've found is 2015. You can verify the timeline above at: http://ramint.gov.au/media/press-re...20160211.cfm.

Hi guys, I got 5 bags of these 50 cent peices on friday from my daughter. She works at the Comm bankand gets me them when available.I asked about rolled coins and she said they dont get them any more only bags. Seems a bit strange all lose in a bag.Is this true.Regards

The ones I bought from the mint were in a bag, but I'm sure the mint sells rolls as well. I was completely unaware you could get them in rolls until very recently, and I'm not completely sold on the idea, because the machines that put them into rolls seem to inflict far more PMD damage than they could ever get while sitting in a bag. I would much prefer it if they stopped rolling coins altogether, but I doubt that anyone cares except me.

With the bags they get banged around every time they are moved.
