mm is too 'thick' and positioned too far to the right. Easy counterfeit.

Honest? No. This is where knowing the style of the mm and the die positions makes all the difference.

Remember, a cleaning often follows an added mm or modified coin. The 1922 "d" missing the mm that GreatSouthernCoins is pawning off is a perfect example: tool, clean, re-tone, oil.

Here's a few genuine low grade G04 & G06 certified coins pulled from Heritage. Notice that even when well worn, the top horizontal section of the mm remains thin and delicate:
