How Do "pin Holes" Effect Cheques' Value?

Harmonica Pillar of the Community Canada 1118 Posts	Posted 02/17/2016 5:52 pm I am looking over 3 cheques, 2 I am interested in. I have similar examples with no tears. The two I am looking at have little rips in them. Not cancel marks but little pieces of paper that stick up and a hole that lights shines through. Should I skip them? I know what the guy paid for them and I want to package them into a lot. Historically and geographically interesting but any numismatic value? chequer Pillar of the Community Canada 4227 Posts	Posted 02/17/2016 10:09 pm Or, if an actual pin hole, it was common to use a straight pin to attach the cancelled cheque to the invoice or receipt. Now that I know what caused it I actually like the whole now (weird, eh). Thanks again Chequer. I have another question in the token forum you may be able to help me with. GregAlex Pillar of the Community United States 822 Posts	Posted 12/13/2017 4:38 pm From what I have seen in the collector market, pinholes have little effect on the value of a check (or stock or bond). These were frequently stapled or spindled so it's just part of regular use. What might bring down value is large or numerous punch holes through the vignette or revenue stamp.
