I am a disabled vet and to take up my time I am starting to collect silver coins, I got this at a garage sale, I am wondering what grade and value you might think this coin is and if It's worth getting graded. Thank you.

A little hard to tell from your pics , Your first photo of obverse has the appearance of a proof. but because it has a MM that's impossible . reverse looks like a real nice uncirculated coin. So I'll just throw out a grade of MS-65 ?

It's a beautiful example and I think it would grade at least MS-64 with a shot at MS-65. However - it is not worth investing the money it would cost to have this coin certified, simply because it is not a terribly expensive coin even if it did get a higher grade.

Thanks for your service, by the way. I did my time in the Marine Corp and I really DO appreciate what more recent vets have had to deal with.

I'm not seeing the frosty mint luster of an MS coin. Looking at your photo with the reflection of the watch, the coin appears to have been cleaned.
AU-58 details, cleaned
