Just look back at the people who paid like 300 bucks for the group of seven RCM box, you could buy whole sets for around 700.00

Group of 7 coins fell flat on their face, eh happens, these 20 for 20 are still quite popular which is surprising since the mintage is so high but the price is low enough to keep collectors buying, one thing that bugged me about the 20 for 20 was that there was "No Case" I had a bunch just stashed wherever, if the case had of been released early on I am sure I would have kept buying them. I still have a few , mainly the first ones.

I guess someone at the RCM woke up and realized this as well.

"Wherever" is the key word for me. So much time wasted trying to find them.

Now I'll only have to search for one box.

For the past five years all my face value coins have gone into the standard size RCM shipping box and there's still room for more!

Problem is though they're all together, I've got to dig through them once in awhile because I sometimes forgot how many of which coins are in there. After repeating this exercise more than once, I've written them down and placed the sheet in the box.

I plan on eventually removing the coins from their flips/packaging and transferring them to their new home in the Lighthouse presentation case. While no more convenient it's much more attractive and certainly hits home the expenditure.

Lose the case and there goes nearly $800 in one snatch & grab.

I'm looking forward to getting my wooden box that holds 35 of these. I haven't bought every single 20for20, just the ones I like. So, 35 slots should be enough.

I hide my coins so well that even I can't find them half the time. No snatch and grabs in this house. If a thief finds a few stashes I'd ask for suggestions as to where I might have hidden the others.

Hey guys... on the topic of tracking coin inventory / purchases, I use Evernote. I have the desktop ap at my office, which syncs to my phone and home computer. Works perfect for keeping track of things, is 100% free, and is always current.

I have a number of standardized fields for entering new purchases that I include with every line (year, name, face value, cost, noted irregularities, coin "series", and location of storage).

This listing is 100% private, and shared only by my wife and i!

Apparently they have increased the "mintage" of the $20 for $20 cases already. I was told there is now going to be 10,000 made available. Mine was sent today, so I'm hoping to get it soon.

The RCM website never did post a "mintage". Much like any supplier of paper products, as many are available as the RCM chooses to order and they'd have no reason to want to limit quantiles.

This case strikes me as similar to a retail store's loss leader item, knowing another 2016- is to come.
- It's intent is to ensure buyers buy and retain every single $20 for $20 whether they like the design or not, so there's no empty spaces.
- provides RCM with additional solicitation opportunities toward people who buy this case, for example to those that were given $20 for $20s as gifts.
- by offering a reasonably price case, RCM may benefit by increasing future demand of $20 for $20, which obviously is to their benefit through offering buyers an added reason to save them as opposed to cashing them in.

The email I got from my rep said.....The Royal Canadian Mint's new custom collector case holds all 20 coins from our 2011-2015 Face Value series of $20 for $20 and $25 for $25 coins. You'll never have trouble locating your collectibles or displaying your collection. The well-appointed case includes a flocked tray with spaces for each of the 20 coins. *MINTAGE 7,000*. I really don't think they'll increase to 10000.

I wasn't guessing. I was told by my rep that 3,000 more have been ordered by the manufacture

The exact "mintage" of legal tender, circulating coin or non is approved under government authority because it's regarded as Canadian money supply.

Not so for cardboard boxes....the sale of such on RCMs website did not even indicate "limited supply" or "hurry, while supply lasts".

Perhaps your rep was trying to be funny?

Probably the better way, is to wait for some RCM report, where will be mentioned the final mintage for these cases...

Btw, looks like the common recent trend - is to get the graded bullion, with some different slabs and colours.
I've seen online the Pockemon cards and Lego mini figures graded and sealed in the slabs...so might be possible to grade "limited mintage collectors RCM case"?

Based on the wording and apology, I don't think my rep was trying to be funny.
For sure, there is at least 10,000 cases available. I'd bet on it.

On the RCM website, it says they will be produced to meet demand as well

A RCM rep would surely know a cardboard box is not "minted", that part certainly has to be a joke. Typically the role of a sales rep is, well, to sell and it's probable the rep was aware the initial supply of boxes was 7,000. But sales reps of large corporations generally are not involved in decisions involving inventory supplies such as cases, which in this case I doubt are produced at a RCM cardboard factory.....

So it's entirely possible the rep simply had no idea if more could be ordered or not at the time the comment was made:-)
