Hi fellow collectors,

I had this error for a while now. I got this 5 pack $2 HMS Shannon commemorative coin from the Mint, and noticed an error.... Coin in question is on the right. The error coin's right side of the coin is missing the words 1812 and some designs. A regular, correctly minted coin is on the left.

What kind of error is this, and the value?

Thank you.

I think it has been Struck Through Grease. A nice error. As for value, I can't help you much. Sorry!

Although, I know a twoonie collector who would pay more...

Coinsplus. I think there is another error you are missing or else you choose to not identify it. look at your coin closely. if you don't mind post a couple more pics. let us check. if they are there I will show you some more errors. it might help increase the value of your coins. it is just hard to tell from the angles of your photos. your choice

Rocky, by a "main sail error" are you referring to frosting between the sail and the rope?

yes these coins would match. one of the varieties. plus add a new one. nice find. I have one that matches. all the extra sails. I went through a lot of toonie. I have not found another one. Saturday I went to a coin shop. I was surprized. to see the young people buying. some very expenses coins. the elderly deal said business is booming lately. the young people. want to invest in something they can see plus hold. nice to see that. plus the interest in collecting.

Hi Rocky, here are some photos of the coin. I appreciate your comments. Sorry for the delay as I was away.

I have attached photos of the coin. MacDonald's portrait is like a ghost image, same with the ship on the side. The right Maple Leaf security feature has no frost like the other leaf. The core of the twoonie has some dark tarnish on both sides. Not sure if this is considered the main sail error.

Hello

I made a study of the varieties of "Frosting" for it 2 $ 2,012.

I stopped at 13 varieties of "frosting" for these coins.

You can see the photo montages here.
