So I bought this off a lady who said her grandfather had this...Can anyone I'd this for me? I've seen some for $20-30 and some for $300-400... I don't understand medals at all so any help on this would be appreciated.

What you have is an Abraham Lincoln inaugural medal made around 1886 by George T. Morgan. It's made of bronze and 76mm.

Does yours have the name Morgan on the truncation of Lincoln's bust? If so, it was likely struck in the 1917 to 1925 era after George Morgan became Chief Engraver at the US Mint.

There are modern examples of this medal that are worth less such as the $20 to $30 you mention.

Forgot to include that this medal is classified as Julian PR-12, King-518

The Julian # comes from R.W. Julian's book titled Medals of the United States Mint: The First Century 1792-1892

The King # comes from Robert P. King's book titled Lincoln in Numismatics

Awesome! It does have Morgan on the bottom of the neck. Any idea on rarity or value?

I believe I misspoke earlier on the value and want to apologize for that. My research turns up the following:

The "modern" brassy looking medals look to sell under $20

The ones with Morgans name and a copper appearance seem to be priced slightly higher maybe $30 to $60. Here's one that sold for $51 last year 111827422181

The ones without Morgan's name, which would be the oldest type are going to be worth the most. Auction results seem to point to between $300 and $500.
