A couple of days ago, I posted about buying bulk on ebay, which in turn wouldn't be too prudent. How about coins in rolls? I do hear/read about people doing better searching through rolls, or is it mainly buying from the bank and such?

i believe if the coins are in shotgun rolls they are harder to re seal which means unsearched but don't get me wrong on ebay "unsearched" isn't really unsearched to begin with so look at there feed back and the people who found good dates see if they are in the same region as the sell to double check a fake feedback

If they're already in rolls, keep them that way. Definitely don't go with the standard 'unsearched wheats' approach.

I sell lots of rolls on line and I know exactly what's in each roll. I have 25 BU 1972 rolls and I know none are DDO because I went through them. If I were going to buy rolls on line, I would ask questions that require answers that, if I discover were not accurate upon receipt of the rolls of coins, would give me the privilege and right to return them. I dont know what the right questions about rolls are that would put you in a position to have a right to return them. Many sellers will say theyre not returnable due to cherrypickers only looking for cherries.

Heard at a forum: "That's not the right answer because I dont know the question."

To close, I could have left my BU rolls of 72s unopened -- they appeared to be machine rolled -- some of them were in bank wrappers; some in what I presumed were federal reserve wrappers and I could have (inadvertently or misinformedly(?)) advertised them as un-searched. At the end of the day, after searching all 25 rolls (1250 coins) and finding not one error, anomaly, or variety, I suspect the coins were searched some time in the past.

Useful or useless information? beats me. Welcome to the crap shoot buying coins can be.
