Here's something I ran across at a dealer today. There were two 1922s in 2X2. One was clearly an F-15, and priced for even less was this coin ($6). Perhaps the detail wasn't evident in the holder? While it's hard to tell from the photo, the crown band and jewels are intact, and the fields are reflective. One detail I really like are the rims, which feel very square when holding, almost like a freshly struck coin! Btw, whenever I find something nice like this, I always go through the dealer's inventory and point out something they missed. This particular dealer had an unattributed 1903-H (large H) 5c. You are right about the under-grading. By the picture it looks somewhat weakly struck on the obverse, and there is a little wear evident on the top of the right leaf. There are a few contact marks, but still looks like a gVF with EF details.

Yes, I noticed the weak portrait as well, in contrast to the lettering on the obverse. Just like the Lincoln portrait in strikes of the 20s, there were often mushy details. I'd agree with your VF grade. Still not bad for $6

at $6.00, that's a steal - even for a VG-8, it's a $20.00 coin!! nice score.

Dick, yep--the pearls are one of the grading criteria I've used. A few of the pearls are a bit flat, but they're all there.

KurtS, we have started a thread on Coppercoins.com, under World Copper, CAnadian coins. I would like to invite you, and any others interested, to participate, if you wish. Maybe we can get some varieties listed, and how to find/identify them. Might even get Whitman, (among others) to make am album that will make allowances for the various varieties. There aren't that many, and the are part of the "collection" as such. Comments?

Kurt, you will be welcomed by those who see your post. BTW, do they make a "blank" folder, for "cent" sized coins, without dates, etc? I would like to find one, (several for that matter), to put the loose extras in, that are more than a tube will hold. Anyone hqave any ideas? Thannks. Another question: I have a few wheats, that I have been putting into rolls, and for the most part, are unsearched (by me), due to my vision. I would like to swat for Canadian coins, Mostly cents. There aren't too many, so they are limited. The grades will run the gamut, as all wheats have before. Dick

Dick, I'm not sure on those folders, because I don't use them as I don't collect by date (only the key dates/varieties) You might also want to post your trade offer where more people can see it
