Hello again all.

I have never sent a coin in for grading and am thinking about giving it a try on my 1883-O Pl and my 1884-O VAM-10 Morgan dollars.

Anyways, was just wondering what makes you decide to send a coin in for grading or not. Is it just the increased value that could come with the official grade.

Which company is best for grading Morgan dollars, ANACS, PCGS, or NGC? I have read how to submit coins(sounds like an ordeal in itself) and, if I understand right, some grading companies require paid membership.

Thanks again...Mont.

Avoid paid memberships by joining ANA. (American Numismatics Association) There is a fee, and you will have to fill out a form and return with payment information that will be used/charged for grading your examples. You will need to sign up with which ever agency you choose. But with an ANA membership you can submit yourself. As opposed to having a registered shop charge you for it.

The rest I will leave for the pros... Good luck!

Here is my logic.

I joined ANA to avoid PCGS and NGC membership fees. As a ANA member I can directly send my coins to NGC.

I only send coins that are problem free and worth submitting for high grades or are key dates.

Ex. I sent 7 coins I hope to come back from NGC next week. 1932 s quarter, 1921 d and s halves, 1921 Peace dollar, 1921 s Buffalo nickel, 1926 peace (extremely nice high unc), and a beautiful 1923 s Peace dollar with full strike.

Grading fees aren't always cheap so I save coins to be submitted and save some money for it. Those 7 coins set me back about $185 I think.

Just my Two Cents. Also I always have my coin dealer in another town check over my coins to get his OK that they will straight grade since he's been doing it 30 years.
Rest in Peace

I usually save the coins that I purchase raw in a separate 2.5 x 2.5 (12 pocket pages). Once each year I submit photos here on this forum to get opinions if I'm uncertain.

I always use NGC. Submitting is simple and straightforward.

Since I already have the coins in the proper size flips its just a matter of downloading the submission sheets and typing them up.

Since each submission sheet can be used in the same category for up to 15 coins it is always less expensive per coin if you submit a full 15 coins per sheet.

I submit coins that have a value of $200 or more.
