Hi Everyone,

Curious to see what people think this coin would grade as:

1914-Penny---Grading-Opinions

1914-Penny---Grading-Opinions

1914-Penny---Grading-Opinions

Will be sent to PCGS but a bit of speculation is always welcome!

I almost never try grading non-US coins.
The standards are different.
I find ICCS grades about ½ to 1 grade lower than NGC or PCGS.

Can't see any wear from your images so I am guessing MS63BR.
Very nice coin and you don't see many of these in this condition, Well done

I'll say PCGS MS63RB minimum and worth a lot of money

Thanks guys, I was hoping for an MS62RB when I bought it so if it comes back MS63/64 that would be pretty awesome. Will post the results when they come through!

Crack it out and send it to the United States instead of Hong Kong
and you may get a better result

OneDollarMule

Nice sharp featured coin, but the obverse rim looks a bit jaggered especially at 11 o'clock. Unfortunately, its had a fair dipping at sometime during its journey and there has been a minor attempt made to hide the dipping. Soaked copper coins in Coca Cola use to look like your Penny, and if any copper coin was left in the Coca Cola too long - overnight - , the copper coin would turn a very bright, light whitish coppery colour.

Only time they grade in Hong Kong is during shows and fly in US graders, outside of the shows they don't grade there just onship to the states.

Thanks for the feedback. The coin was sent directly to the US. Whats interesting is that the coin was not graded UNC details - altered surface or rim damage but rather just "damage". I'll have to wait until it comes back but there was no sign of dipping/retouching of the surface that I can recall. Bit of an odd call from PCGS, I'll land up resubmitting it down the track.

The coin is quite dark, the PCGS image is a bit over exposed with the actual colour far closer to my original pictures (it was also given a BN designation).
