My father just recently won his bout with cancer. I hope the same thing happens to you. You are definitely in my prayers.

I am wishing you the best, uruman. I do hope your treatment goes well and is successful.
Ten years ago when I was first diagnosed, I started participating in a web site for Prostate Cancer patients and their families. I signed up to be a mentor to others going through the experience. It turned out to be a very cathartic experience. I would encourage the same for anyone with a cancer diagnosis. The importance of sharing your story and hearing the stories of others cannot be underestimated!
joeysanders - congratulations to you and your father - you are both survivors!

Quote: Hope all is well and nothing happened...as you haven't been online in two months. Thanks for your concern. Things are moderately okay. Fighting the side effects of my treatment is taking its toll, however. Still doing a little roll searching, but limited (maybe one roll over 2 or 3 days). We did take time to go on a cruise celebrating our upcoming 56th wedding anniversary and my completing 10 years as a Stage IV Cancer survivor. That was very nice - we ended up with total VIP treatment! Support from this group has been greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My friend (noted on page 3 of this thread) has since died. He has run his race, and attained his prize with joy. The very last time I saw him, I said: "Don't worry Bob, sooner or later, I will be the same as you, and probably in pain, just like you are now, we all die, we all have a 100% failure rate, I am no different to you." He just gave me a wry, sympathetic, satisfied smile. He understood my humor, perfectly well. He died peacefully in a natural coma, 2 days later, probably with assistance of massive doses of morphine, administered under pallative care. I suffered grief, he had escaped pain at the end. My daughter gave birth to my first grandchild just recently. As I write this, he is just 6 weeks old, and a perfect joy. New life. YES! WE can all beat death with the right mindset, and a sense of humor.
