My father just recently won his bout with cancer. I hope the same thing happens to you. You are definitely in my prayers.

I am wishing you the best, uruman. I do hope your treatment goes well and is successful.

Ten years ago when I was first diagnosed, I started participating in a web site for Prostate Cancer patients and their families. I signed up to be a mentor to others going through the experience. It turned out to be a very cathartic experience. I would encourage the same for anyone with a cancer diagnosis. The importance of sharing your story and hearing the stories of others cannot be underestimated!

joeysanders - congratulations to you and your father - you are both survivors!

Thanks for your concern. Things are moderately okay. Fighting the side effects of my treatment is taking its toll, however. Still doing a little roll searching, but limited (maybe one roll over 2 or 3 days).

We did take time to go on a cruise celebrating our upcoming 56th wedding anniversary and my completing 10 years as a Stage IV Cancer survivor. That was very nice - we ended up with total VIP treatment!

Support from this group has been greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

My friend (noted on page 3 of this thread) has since died.
He has run his race, and attained his prize with joy.

The very last time I saw him, I said:
"Don't worry Bob, sooner or later, I will be the same as you, and probably in pain, just like you are now, we all die, we all have a 100% failure rate, I am no different to you."

He just gave me a wry, sympathetic, satisfied smile.
He understood my humor, perfectly well.

He died peacefully in a natural coma, 2 days later, probably with assistance of massive doses of morphine, administered under pallative care.

I suffered grief, he had escaped pain at the end.

My daughter gave birth to my first grandchild just recently.
As I write this, he is just 6 weeks old, and a perfect joy.

New life.

YES! WE can all beat death with the right mindset, and a sense of humor.
