I picked this up on ebay and it's in a PCGS holder graded MS62 BN. Seems a bit low to me as I've seen 64s look alot worse. Should I have it re graded?

I am not an expert on MS large cents, but I think you may be able to squeeze a grade higher.

oh and to CCF

Are there porous surfaces notably on the obverse around the stars in front of Liberty's face on on the reverse around "...TED ST..." If yes, I'm thinking that might have kept the grade down. It is a pretty coin, though.

It's not porus, just a bit of toning. The surfaces on both sides are nice and smooth under 5x magnification. I was wondering if the reverse lettering being a bit weaker struck than the rest of the coin is what knocked it down.

Looks correct in the grade to me. Highest I would go is a 63 ( TPG grade.) Very nice coin.

to CCF :)

You might be able to push another grading point out of it, but even if you got the point, would it be worth it? Postage with insurance both ways is not cheap these days, and the extra point might be worth $50 if you got it.

If the obverse does not have any more luster than what is showing in the photo, I don't think that you will get the point. The sharpness as nice, as it should be for an MS grade coin, but you need something extra.

Hate to be late, but PCGS reconsideration is an option. I just got two back, and as stated, it is expensive also. billjones would know, and unless its a personal thing, I would not! Real nice example, though.

Let me show this piece to you for a comparison. I purchased this 1841 large cent at the last winter FUN show. It is a PCGS MS-63, Brown. I think that it is a heck of coin for the grade, but still this shows what you might be up against for an upgrade.

Agree not worth resubmitting unless it has a lot more luster than it seems to.
