First, I didn't know where to put this thread as the item in discussion isn't exactly a coin, but pertains to coins. I have this Abraham Lincoln bust coin bank that was given to me by my grandfather when I was little. It is made from copper and looks like it was cast in a mold in pure copper. It has a plate on the back of it that says "The M & M SAVINGS & LOAN ASSOCIATION Springfield, Ohio" and the hinged door on the bottom of the bust has "THE MILLER BANK SERVICE 1925 Chicago" engraved on it.

I have researched it several times on the internet and get no results that pertain to my bank or who made and I can find no info on the two companies mentioned above. I know this does not relate to coins but since there are all those wonderful collectors out there that deal with banks, I figured that someone out there must have heard of it or who made it. Any help would be helpful. Thanks, Adam

Do you ever watch the Antiques Roadshow? There are dealers out there that specialize in these older banks, who probably have a good idea of its value. Doing some quick research myself, I see a lot of Lincoln bust banks out there, but saw none with a specific date of 1925, which strikes me as pretty early if that's the manufactured date. Find someone you can trust that deals in antique cast toys--they should be able to tell you something, and I suspect the news will be good. And, like they always say on the Roadshow--don't clean it. Good luck.

Have you ever heard of the M & M Savings & Loan Association of Springfield, Ohio? I have looked that up and can't find anything. It has always intrigued me since it was given to me as a child. The part that spikes my interest is the fact that I can't find any info on it, nothing.

Well...I live in CA, so I can't say I know much about midwest banks. However, if M&M S&L was around in '25, it may have not been solvent after '29, if you recall what happened in October that year.

To add to what KurtS said, if the S&L survived the Depression, it may not have survived the S&L collapse in the 80s. As for Miller Bank Service, that sounds like a company that produced promotional advertising material for banks such as your coin bank.
