Is there much of a selection of Newfoundland coins at the expo, and reasonably priced. I've been looking at some lots on ebay, but didn't want to commit until I see what the expo has to offer, I've decided to start a Newfie album and wanted to start adding to it. I'm also thinking about attending the coin grading seminar at the expo, hope it'll improve my skill

It's a wonderful show, 25 to 30 dealers with a lot of varieties

crjenkins: Not only is is a pretty good show, the seminars and sessions are good. You can also meet some pretty astute collectors/authors/experts from coin sites back through CCRS .. especially after your feet get tired and you head down to Jack Astor's about a block away for a cold one and see the "show & tells"..

I have a question about handling coins, gloves? And what kind. The reason I ask it here is because, do people bring them to the expo, or is just for home use. Next question, can I get them at the expo

I don't own a pair.... and I have never seen them at shows.. course I'm not exactly a "whale" buying the big coins either...
(although that gives me an idea next time I go into the junk bins... for a joke)
Most really high end coins I would imagine are already slabbed.. and the raw ones that you're looking at.. I would say this...
1) Handle the coin only from it's edges 2) Try to refrain from talking while handling the coin.. (there's lots of stuff in your mouth don't get it on the coin!) 3) Bring a light and a loupe... I have a magnifier that has a light and I LOVE it. 4) Take your time to examine the coin and develop a pattern or "ritual" if you will on how to look at the coin...
most importantly have fun... I sometimes see stuff in dealers "chests" that I know I will NEVER afford and I simply say.. that's out of my market but would you mind if I had a look... I have yet to be turned down and it's great to really examine some NICE coins

AgCoinAu . Getting a close look at a coin that is out of the budget is fun and educational and, Crjenkins don't be shy and ask a few questions if the situation allows. As for the gloves? I was wondering the same thing

Thanks AgcoinsAu, thanks Canacoins
I was thinking about bringing a backpack, it's my daughters old one from last year the problem is it's pink. I guess it'll match my red shirt

You don't need gloves at the Expo. As mentioned, most coins are slabbed or in 2X2's. Only junk box coins are really raw. I'll be there Thurs PM to visit friends and leave Sat PM.
