My military interest are the WWI shock troops. Sadly, anything related to them is worth several thousand dollars, but maybe one day .

I blundered about for 6 hours and can no longer feel my feet, but I had a really fun time doing it. Made friends with a lot of dealers and sounds like I may have hit the jackpot on some good coins later on . Nothing too special today. Spent 1 USD each Got this lot for 5.50 USD. My favorite coin from today and another state off my list (I'm trying to get one from every state!). Payed 6 USD. Found these two cash coins mixed in with these military buttons I bought.

Really nice find. I especially like the Napoleon III coin - I just have a few lowballs of that one, but still searching for a nice one like that. Keep up updated on the jackpot(s) you'll hit later on!

Today I spent the most I have ever spent on a single coin! A U.S. Trade dollar!

Nice bunch of coins. I'd love to own one of these Trade dollars but as I do not know much about them and there seem to be many counterfeits on the market I wouldnt try to get one for myself.

I didn't believe I would ever find one there, but one of the ANA members there had it in the very bottom case. I was able to get for $90, I'm guessing that is a fair price considering the condition.

Nice coins! How did I miss this thread for so long. It's really good fun to read such 'diaries' here.
Anyway, the 5 ุre coin you posted on May 26 is actually Swedish, not Norwegian. Norwegian coins don't have the Swedish threecrown and Norwegians use the ุ instead of the O with two dots on it (which only Swedes use: contrary to popular belief, Swedish doesn't have the ุ, only Danes and Norwegians do). We did have the same king in that year, though: Oscar II, king of Sweden, Norway and a bunch of other places. The obverse of the coin shows his signature O with the II inside it.

Nice pickups. Flea markets are usually infested with counterfeits but if you know what you're buying you can get some good deals. Quote: British Eat India

Thank you for the information, I don't know why the coat of arms didn't click in my head, there was a man selling Swedish helmets with the coat of arms on them. Quote: Nice pickups. The man was a military/coin dealer and a member of the ANA, I had him weigh the Trade dollar anyway . Fakes are few and far between, the flea market really cracks down on people selling counterfeit items. The only person selling fakes I found (Is it sad that I went searching for fakes?) said it up front, like an Imperial Chinese coin for 2 dollars. Just to keep this thread alive...the only things coin related I've ever gotten at a flea market were two S mint silver halves, one 1942S Walking Liberty and one 1952S Franklin. They cost $12 each. This was back in mid 2012.
