Hi guys, just joined here, I found a coin with my metal detector last week, wondering if anyone had any idea what is it and a date it may of been made etc?

Not my area, but google "coin large M between stars, cross on top"

It is a roman or byzantine coin, but for the moment I have no idea

It's a Byzantine follis. The M means that it is equal to 40 nummi. Timeframe would be around 498-600 I believe.

Beneath the center point of the M is the officina letter, A. Below that, the letters CON indicate the Constantinople mint. The obverse legend begins with DN IVSTIN and ends with PP AVG, but can't make out if IVS or IANVS is inbetween (for either an Emperor Justin or a Justinian).

Justin I Follis are easy to come by. I paid $30 for mine with a good deal more definition on the obverse.
