did not expect seller to accept $45 offer for 4 coins when he was asking $123. Not the greatest bunch but thought they ranged from F-12 or so for the 1850 to maybe vf30 for the 53? 251989646860

You were smart in offering $45 to a guy in Ohio.

#45 was Archie Griffin's number for the Buckeyes and it gets business done here in the Buckeye state.

So I'm confused. Why does ebay say it was sold for $123?

Very nice buy! I had that in my watch list off and on for a little bit. If anything, I learned a valuable lesson today - doesn't hurt to throw in a best offer, every now and then. Think you are pretty on for your grading estimates, too.

good question kkirby. No idea why. Been awhile since I had heard Archie Griffins name Buckeye!
Rest in Peace

Tossing realistic offers never hurts. There are a fair number of sellers who put a dreamer price out and accept offers that are made at real prices.

Just had an offer accepted by the same guy....78-CC Morgan Low ball for $35 ....was asking $123 for it. Thanks to the OP for sharing this, normally I wouldn't offer that much lower than the asking price :)

Of course I went and made several lowball offers on the same seller's coins but none were accepted...
