Sorry Simon , there is no mint mark on that coin . but I see why you were hoping for an '' O '' Mint .

There does seem to be something there, but we would need much better photos and magnification. The 1909-o half eagle is so valuable that many forgeries exist where an o was added or a d was altered.

You can see what you want to see, but I do not see anything that would translate to an actual "O." I think the weak mintmark onlyapplies to 1911 D quarter eagles.

I Don't know much about gold coins . But this one is in nice shape . that said ,if there was a mint mark on it you would be able to see it with no problem .

I'm simply curious about something that appears to be in the mintmark area. The OP sees something that shouldn't be there. For a coin in this condition, I agree the mintmark should be obvious and it's not. Forgery is an interest of mine, and this specimen may have been altered in some way. My inclination is to see and learn rather than dismiss.
