Monday night's episode of Misfit Garage (Discovery Channel) included mention of Tom's 1917 quarter. He offered it as additional payment for the paint and body work on Sue's 1956 Ford Truck.

Based on his comments, which I shall not repeat on our family friendly forum, it was definitely a Variety 1.

Near the end of the episode, when payment was due, we get a glimpse of the coin in its plastic holder, but no shot of the actual coin. Sorry, it was late and I did not think to get screen captures.

Anyone else see it?

I saw a nice one on Pawn Stars. It was probably MS65 and was a 1917 I think. My LCS owner had a beautiful LSQ in MS65. He wanted $2000 for it. I was wanting a 1916 in at least fine condition. I still can't deal with paying $6500 for a coin with just a date and some detail. I am 66 years old. I will have to live until I am 90 to make a profit.
