The 2009 edition comes out April 8th according to Whitman. They are taking pre-orders for the book on their site.

From what Whitman advertises this 2009 edition will be much better than the 2008. However, I suggest holding off for a while until other distributers acquire them. For example the Walmart Web site usually has them for about 2/3 the Whitman price.

I agree with just carl, wait to buy it at a discount. I do not buy one every year, but when I do get one I usually buy it just before (or just as) the new ones come out, so it is heavily discounted.

Many people will say that the prices are outdated before the book is even released, but still serves well as a "the" guidebook. This being the case, I see no need to have one "hot off the presses".

I would agree that the Red Book is not a good price guide at all and never has been in my opinion. However it is one of the best guide book on coins we have and has a lot of history on all U.S. coins. I buy a new one every three or four years, Carl is right Walmart is the way to go.

Thanks again for the great advice you guys & Gals always give .The spiral was like $19.99 plus shipping .I think it is a good reference book .But I assume for the best up to date coin values are the grey sheets?
