However, I suggest holding off for a while until other distributers acquire them. For example the Walmart Web site usually has them for about 2/3 the Whitman price. Report this Post to the Staff

I do not buy one every year, but when I do get one I usually buy it just before (or just as) the new ones come out, so it is heavily discounted. Many people will say that the prices are outdated before the book is even released, but still serves well as a "the" guidebook. This being the case, I see no need to have one "hot off the presses". BRUCE 1947 Pillar of the Community United States 834 Posts	Posted 02/19/2008 6:37 pm I would agree that the Red Book is not a good price guide at all and never has been in my opinion. However it is one of the best guide book on coins we have and has a lot of history on all U.S. coins. I buy a new one every three or four years, Carl is right Walmart is the way to go.
