From RCM's website:

EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO SELECT COINS
One of the exciting new features of the Masters Club is our commitment to designing and producing three low mintage coins each program year that are made with Masters Club members in mind. With each release, you'll get an exclusive 45-day period in which to purchase the coins. At least 90% of the mintage for each coin will be reserved for Masters Club members.

******
Maybe it's a misunderstanding that RCM mints special coins only for MC members? Because it doesn't, what they offer is exclusive access to decide to buy for 45 days prior to RCM release to the general public.

If 45 days to preview is supposed to be an incentive to buy from RCM, I don't get it either. As for the dealers, perhaps they are issued the 10% by RCM knowing the mintage well exceeds the number of gold and platinum MC members?

Looks like it all got mixed.

I actually do not know was the Polar Bear offered as Exclusive to MC (cause I only the Silver MC), but other people reported about it, so I do believe that it is Coin #3.

Now:

Quote:
Well, the so called "Exclusive" MC Polar coin has been available to Canadian Coin and Currency VIP customers for a week now.

Do you remember, guys, the Scalloped Goose coin , did appear on the CA page month prior the release, but the listing was removed after one day? and after it, together with RCM, all dealers had this coin.
All related to the mintage:
if it low mintage Voyageour - supposedly it really (95%) will be MC Exclusive. But if the coin has 6000+ mintage - for sure it will go to dealers as well.
RCM still calls it "MC exclusive"

The mintage of the Iconic Canada: Polar Bear is 4000. The hype over low mintage releases has already gone by the wayside?

On the CC&C website, VIP members, it reads this:
***Exclusively available to Vault Insider Program (VIP) Members
(and RCM Masters Club Members)***

The household limit is ONE.

This is the first coin in RCM's innovative new series "featuring classic Canadian icons highlighted with cutting-edge design and technology."

No indication how many coins in the series. I'm no flipper and one is enough for me however I haven't made my mind up yet.

But....first coin, low mintage, no excitement, often referred to as a sleeper may become highly sought later, as appealing, higher mintages in the same series continue to get released. And yes, this runs contrary to immediate hype on "immediate sell outs" but I firmly believe that NCLT which forms part of a series, theme or set holds a far better chance of ongoing and future appeal.

The Special Features preamble also states "through a unique use of blue enamel."

Anyone who bought the Great Lakes series may find this latest series either to be complimentary or overkill.

I don't see how this Polar Bear coin is any more 'cutting edge', but staff confirmed that the fish and iceberg are better defined.

Doesn't make sense that we're not told the number of different coins being produced.

If this is an exclusive MC release then wouldn't also apply to the remainder as well?

I think what's unique is that the enamel is translucent, overlaid over the frosted silver iceberg. Other enamel has been solid colour. Is that a big deal, I don't know.

The Polar Bear, first in the 1oz "Iconic Canada" series....the recent 1/2oz was also just promoted as the "Iconic Canada Inukshuk" if that's supposed to be a clue as to following releases.....

My understanding is that any coins unsold to MC members during the Exclusive MC Access 45-day period are then offered to the public. But if the entire Iconic Canada series is intended to become an annual MC thing, good question, adds another ? ......what, when, who.
Rest in Peace

Any thoughts on the 4 coin Canada National Heroes series?

I'm actually kind of impressed that we haven't seen any mint 'adds' on TV about this set. With fire fighters so prevalent in the news, this coin specifically, should be a sell out by now. It's nice that they aren't trying to capitalize on it.

That's a great photo Dcadon! I'm very impressed that the image of the firefighter looks far more realistic and less like a "cutout" compared to RCM's stock photo.

This coin and series is deserving of being proudly displayed in plain view.
