It's Devanagari script, which is used in India and Nepal. Clearly Hindi iconography. Don't recognize it, but it's gorgeous, whatever it is. Thanks for sharing.

Sir Petrus, You guessed the reverse background right from the very start "Sri" Meaning "It is a word of Sanskrit origin, used in the Indian subcontinent as a polite form of address equivalent to the English "Mr." or "Ms." in written or spoken language." The Lady on the obverse is LAXMI LAKSHMI LAKSMI. "A hindu Goddess of Wealth, Fortune and Prosperity (both Material and Spiritual). She is the wife and active energy of Lord Vishnu." Thank You again and Best Regards

Sometimes medals can be presented in a range of metals.
Solid silver, silver plated copper, pure copper, etc.; it depends on how it was originally marketed or gifted.

Weight may be an irrelevence.

I WILL admit, that I have zero knowledge of this particular issue.

Color suggests to me in this case, that it MAY? be silver plated copper.

Over a period of decades, silver and copper atoms have been known to cross migrate at the silver / copper interface. It may? have happened in this case.

This type of silver round is very popular in India for presenting at New Year or birthdays. It is marked as .999 silver and most probably is.
