1919 CDN Penny Question - Coin Community Forum

Davey-D-99 New Member Canada 3 Posts	Posted 05/10/2016 11:27 am Hi there, First post...I recently came across an old container of coins that once belonged to my grandfather...While looking at some of them, I noticed this 1919 penny with part of the N missing. The other 1919 pennies don't look like this. Is this significant or just damage? Report this Post to the Staff

okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5588 Posts	Posted 05/10/2016 2:15 pm Initially I thought a plugged die, but it looks likepart of an abrasion or metallic line just to the left of the top. It looks like something may have removed/sliced part of it. The thumbnail photo of the N isn't clear enough to delineate what happened, but, if there is a mark there, then it's PMD .. post mint damage. Most of them were WWII era normal coins. There are also a lot of old notes...many of them in fantastic condition. I'll have to take some pictures when I can get them again.
