Sweet thanks! I missed the show last week. If you want to see what a copper-plated steel cent looks like, just look at a Canadian or Euro cent.

I really don't know why we can't make simple Stainless Steel cents. Not Copper plated, not Zinc plated, not anything plated, just a Stainless Steel Cent. Pakistan, China, etc. are making knives, swords, cookware, forks, spoons, bar-b-ques and on and on and on out of stainless steel and selling them here in the USA for cheap prices. Maybe we should outsource our monitary system to them.

so how many scratches do you think those cents get just from falling into that container, and imagine the pressure that the pennies receive on the bottom from a couple feet worth of pennies on top of them, I don't know maybe I'm just exaggerating it

Just my opinion, but I would be sad to see the cent go. The history of the cent, going back to the beginning of this country, is I think sufficient reason to keep a version of the cent around.

I am astonished that our country hasnt eliminated the cent yet, eventually we are gonna run out of cheap metals to use, because they wont be cheap much longer due to inflation.

Those cents were absolutely flawless. Once they're jingling around in bags, though, they begin to collect marks, reducing their grade many times. I'd bet that the majority (if not all) of the cents on that tray would grade MS70.

Forget the scratches, they need to fix the water spots left on every new penny ;(
