Sreemoolam Tirunal issued Silver two Chukram coins that too with "Chukram 2" and "2 Chukram". These are now a rare and much sought after variety because he is the only ruler to issue silver two chukrams or even two chukram coins. This being a very small coin, the face of the coin cannot accommodate the legend written as "Two Chukrams". So abbreviations were used like "CHS 2" and "2 CHS".

The monetary system of Travancore was
16 Kash=1 Chukram
4 Chukram=1 Fanam
7 Fanams=1 Rupee

Travancore had permission to mint coins upto half rupee and not rupee. Rupee coins of British India were used instead. But there was a concept of local rupee also and the British Rupee fetched a premium over local rupee. 7 Fanams and half Chukrams were to be paid for the British rupee.(ie.twenty-eight chukrams made a local rupee and twenty-eight and a half went into a British rupee).
