I stopped posting these a while back because I had posted so many. I thought I'd post this one though, since we have so many Newbies. It is a Trail Die created when the die was being made. The die scraped against the hub as it was being released. The trails running through the steps, classify it as Wavy Steps.

The following three pictures are of the obverse. The direction the lighting comes from makes them look different. Understanding that, can improve your pictures drastically.
The first picture shows Jefferson with combed hair, looking straight at you.

The second picture shows Jefferson with uncombed hair, looking to his right.

The third picture shows him just plain upset.

All the same coin and light, the light is just coming from different directions. Is that crazy or what?

I love it when you post these trail dies - glad you posted this one. You're not kidding about the faces. Wow, like 3 different expressions: Mr. Serious, nonchalant and Kinda Angry - so cool.
Thanks for sharing it.

Glad ya'll like it, the faces too. Trail Dies are pretty neat, most of the trails are visible with the naked eye. I never counted, but off the top of my head, I'd say I have looked at about 6 zillion nickels.
