In some agricultural regions of China these coupons are forwarded by the Gouvernment to become some goods as rice or whatever in case of severe economical decline. These are NOT banknotes, the numbers as shown are weights.

Most coupons are dated and enable to buy rice, oil etc.
Anyone knows if they still print them or seen any of those dated later than the early 90s?

G'day, I visited PRC for a month or longer in 1997, '98, '99, & '05. I married a local. From what I learned, by 1997, Deng's reforms were in full swing, and "the market economy" had replaced "the planned economy". Whilst there may have been local shortages, you'd never know it in Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, or Shanghai - the cities I spent most time in. Since then, PRC has experienced rapid wages growth and reduced cost of living. Which is why consumption is increasing so much.
I find their paper money very interesting.
