This is a first for me. I hope you can see it, this is not my best photography. I was wondering how rare/common these are. I 'd appreciate all comments and opinions. Thanks!

Hi Sudz, nice find there. This is something I try to look for all the time. Here is a link that I printed off and keep on my desk when searching (no luck for me yet) easier for me to see these than the DD's. There is also another website link that has been helpful with these - I will look it up in my favorites and post it for you. your 1940S is listed there (but you may have already looked it up here).

Okay, so I found this site:

http://rotateddies.50webs.com/census.htm

According to that census, this error is rated as a R6 in rarity which means there were about 13-30 of these accounted for as of 12/17/13. I'm guessing that number has gone up significantly since then, as more and more people get involved in our hobby.

I don't think the number could go up like crazy. Maybe now it is an r-5. But still, really cool find.

I think finding the good rotated ones are still very rare. Think about it, you started off "This is a first for me" how many have you searched now to find this one? I haven't seen many posts on here about the rotated dies either, so maybe our members find them, but don't post them?

To your point: a little more than a million and a Half Cents to date.

I'm doing okay, but last I heard some people have searched a whole lot more than I have. I think I remember that John1 was somewhere near 4 million...
