I understand that depositing large amounts of rolled coins causes work for tellers, and bank boxes of coins are heavy. I dropped off four boxes of cents and four boxes of nickels one morning a few days ago. So, what is the largest amount of rolled coins you have dumped at a bank?

Dollar wise, it's now upto $2600, if you are talking about rolls, I have dumped 12 boxes of pennies at once (the first time I used a trolley to bring coin into the bank) But more regularly I dump 4 boxes of dimes or 3 boxes of quarters almost every week.

I think I once brought 4 boxes of nickels in, on one trip. They weren't happy and made me stand in line with them.

Tough to find a bank here that will accept rolls period, whether they have a coin counter or not. My CU has a nice fast LaRue that I use, or I dump loose in bags of $500 over the counter.

I regularly dump 1000 in halves, 2-3 times a week.

The most I ever did was two boxes of pennies. Now my CU uses a coin counting machine (that was down this morning).

I cashed in $400 worth of pre-82 copper Memorial Lincolns a few years ago.
My son was just getting out of basic-training in Texas. His bride-to-be needed airfare, couldn't afford the airline ticket, and wanted to be there when he graduated.
She called and ask me for the $. I carried 16 bank-boxes of wrapped cents to the bank that day after work. They were married the day after he graduated.
They're divorced now.
I carry around a $100 Kyrgyzstan bill in my wallet that he brought back home after his deployment.

Well, my old bank (Bank of America) will only take rolled coins if they room for them... otherwise, they will take them from you, put them in a bag and ship them off... they will then credit your account in approximately 7 days... Now you know why they're my old bank!
My current bank, Wells Fargo, has no problem with me bringing in rolled coins, just as long as I only do it once per day. It also helps that I have three Wells Fargo branches within a 1 1/2 mile radius of my home. I usually buy my coins from two of them and use the other as my "dump" bank. Most I've ever dumped at one time there was $300, $250 of which was in halves...

I dropped off $950 of rolled cents about six weeks ago. Now that bank will not take large amounts of rolled coins. I have to put them in $50 bags.

Most I ever dropped off was 6 boxes of halves in one visit. When I was a teller years ago a guy brought in 10 boxes of quarters from his vending business. I was happy, and I'm sure brinks was too, as I didnt have to order quarters for next weeks shipment.

A few years ago I deposited $8,000 worth of halves in 8, $1,000 bags. My buddy was coin vault manager of the CU at the time, so it was easy. Last year I was traveling in a far away state and looked through $1,000 in halves. I re-rolled them and took them to the nearest bank. They told me I need not have rolled them because they had a coin counter! They had to break open each roll and run it through the counter The bank was polite about it, but I felt like a jerk for making more work for me AND them by not asking the nearest bank the following simple question in advance of my searching the coins: "Do you have a coin counter, or must the coins be rolled for deposit?"

Being Canadian things are not always easy getting rid of American coins back in the states, twice now they wouldn't accept them without having an account at the bank, don't see what difference it makes, it's all money, but there you are. I once used several rolls of pennies and nickels to get a nice Mexican meal in Port Angeles, Washington. I once took back two boxes of Canadian pennies to a Canadian bank and the young teller couldn't lift them had to get a guy to do it, I got some nasty looks. P.

In terms of "rolled" coin I have dumped $2K in halves.
In loose coin I unfortunately one time had to dump $5K in halves at once which is when I found out if you do a cash transaction (including changing your coin for cash) over $K the bank has to fill out a government watch list form on you which is why I now dump under $4K if it comes to it.

Wow Jack! That is just crazy!
I dumped $500 of halves once... I rarely drop off more than $300 at any one time, mostly due to the fact that I rarely buy full boxes of halves. I get 1/2 a box at a time usually. The manager at that branch will hold them for me in her drawer.
