Actually, it is the center hole that is misaligned. The core was properly inserted into that hole, leaving it misaligned as well. But the primary error is the poorly positioned hole.

There's a possibility that the "curved clip" is, instead, a second misaligned center hole. After all, it lines up with the complete hole. However, the clip is too small to accurately determine its radius of curvature. So this will have to remain a tentative hypothesis.
