Are there any sites or places that sell guaranteed unsearched Lincoln wheat pennies? Seems like so many people lie about unsearched rolls and lots.

I'm going to make an analogy that may or may not apply to your question.

If I get to the point I ask my woman, "are you cheating on me?" the problem is this.

1. I probably wont believe the answer
or
2. I wont like the answer.

(or 3. She wont answer)

So, if I'm not going to believe the answer or like the answer, there's no real point in asking that question.

I think of this equation when I wonder, after my experience with so-called, "unsearched" coins. One of my mentors, long ago, conveyed this concept to me;

"Jim, if you have to ask, the answer is NO"

I hate to seem so cynical. Before I answered you I did a search on "unsearched wheat cents" on google and Mozilla. The first hits were on ebay. Next was a lot of 400 cents, 1909 - 1958, that were unsearched. Do I believe it?

Do I have to ask the question?

Now, the best course of action, in my not-so-humble(?) opinion is to keep your eyes peeled during real time life encounters with coins. I wont dissuade you from trying your luck on Ebay/the Internet. Temperance in trust, faith, and (yes)gullibility is the middle road. For me, the middle road is an aspiration.

It's best just to assume there's no such thing as unsearched wheat pennies on the Internet. If you don't over-overpay for them, they can be very entertaining, and you can re-sell them as wheat pennies (rather than 'unsearched!' wheat pennies for very close to (and sometimes more than) what you paid for them. I have found that better lots tend to come from people who don't also sell singles of early dates, but that is not a foolproof indicator.

"Unsearched" can happen at estate auctions !! GO TO THOSE ! You can get large containers of them for cheap..... I did ! $50.00 for one thousand of them (wheaties) and I was the first one at this auction.........no one looked through them and I found A LOT of goodies ...... "ALL" decades of them well represented ! And mostly people aren't interested in the coins anyway, at estate auctions..... a little interest definately...but they're there for all of the other stuff !

I want to go to those auctions you're talking about Eaglefoot! Woo, Hoo! A thousand old pennies for $50--what a deal! I get excited going thru the bags of pennies from the bank--I cannot imagine how excited I would get to make a buy like that! I would tell everybody at my house to make their own dinner--I'd be busy sorting pennies!

So how do you find out about these estate auctions and where they are held at? I've never done it before.

If the seller knows enough about coins to list them as "Unsearched" they know enough to search them for goodies before they sell them.

Keep away from estate AUCTIONS. Most have what is termed RINGERS in the audience. These are individuals hired by the auctioneers to bump up the prices. If they win by accident, the item is just put up again later of at another auction. Try garage/yard,etstate sales.
As to UNSEARCHED coins of any kind. THINK.
If I told you I had 5 Nickels in my pocket and all were 1989 Jeffersons but I didn't look, would you believe me? If I said I had all Wheat Cents in this bag but I never searched them, HOW WOULD I KNOW WHAT THEY ALL ARE?
Any time anyone says they have something and explains exactly what it is and then tells you they didn't look at it, would you believe them?
By the way I am selling the Empire State Building. Also, the Golden Gate Bridge.
