I placed my order for all of the various bald eagle commems' that I wanted. They have been arriving in multiple shipments and I am only awaiting the unc+medal set. What I have noticed about every single one of them is the abundance of lint fibers. Like I said, they are all coming at different times but they all have the same lint and a lot of it. Where are these fibers coming from? They are about 5mm in length so they seem too long to be debris from the velour proof boxes.

Anyone else noticed this?

I was going to order a lot of the 2008 stuff from the Mint in honour of my first child (due in April). I have already started to get some 1908 items for him.

I have not bought anything direct from the mint since the late 90's. After reading the complaints against the US Mint's QC (in other threads), I think I will just get them at a coin show or my local dealer. Paying a premium for the ability to see them first might be worth it.

So, I would also like to hear comments from the other members...

I order the set of 3 in unc they also had lint on the capsules and they are very hard to remove from the box. but the lint is not on the inside its only on the holders.

Same here....only on the "outside" of the holders ....not the inside for me. But the "QC" is still not anything to be impressed by .....even when spending large amounts with them....sad really. There's no such thing as perfect & pristene through the U.S. Mint (except on the rare occaision.....) ...it should be the other way around !
But .....it doesn't stop me !

Now that the Sacagawea dollar has been "approved" and the 2008 sets are "legal" I am facing a dilemma... order them from the mint or wait for the next coin show so I can inspect them. Grrr...
