I've seen this design before, but not in bronze. Judging from the back of this medal, it looks like this medal has been shaved and then filled in with another type of metal? Has anyone come across this before or have any knowledge about this medal, specifically why the back looks this way? The medal measures 45mm. Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking it is a cliche which is a one sided impression

Here's an example http://www.historicalartmedals.com/...0%20HIGH.htm

MV I believe you correct it appears to be a cliche medal. Thanks for the help! I wonder if it has much value?

I'd bet that it has value, how much is not something I know.

After doing some research I couldn't find any other cliche medals like this online. I found something similar, but I don't know if this medal is nearly this valuable or rare.
