I recently heard that the 1991 candian quarter is very rare. I was wondering if this was true. If so how rare are they?

The mint was on strike for a while in 1991 and it must have been while the quarters were being made. Charlton shows a mintage of
459,000 compared with millions in other years.CCN trends shows a value of $1.00 in F-12, you have to go back to the 40's to match that value for the grade. In several years of looking at every coin I get in change I have never seen one.I do have a couple that I bought on e-bay including one certified by ICCS in MS-64.

I just checked, and I have one!

I haven't put it in an album yet, and the price is still on the flip -- $1.50, VF.

The book value I have listed for a 1991 quarter is MS-63 $15.00, deffinately a good coin to keep an eye out for. ;)

That is an icredibly low mintage for a modern circulating coin. It stands to grow in value as time passes. Mike
