Broke the banks with this one, which put me back the cost of a McDonald's quarter pounder meal:

India, Gujarat area
c. 470-776 AD
Maitraka dynasty (billon?) drachm
12mm, 2.02g

Obverse: abstract form of Western Satrap style portrait

Reverse: Trident surrounded by Brahmi legend

I am struggling to find a good reference to help me narrow this down to a specific ruler; I am afraid that the actual ruler name may be off the flan in this case. Still struggling to be able to decipher Brahmi legends.

Any additional info very much appreciated!

Great looking coin, Steve.

The ones I've seen from the Matraikas of Valabhi don't have kings' names attached to them. The only one at Tom Mallon's site (grifterrec) is listed as anonymous. Apparently the primary reference is Michael Mitchiner's "Oriental Coins, Vol. 2: the Ancient and Classical World."

Here's one from acsearch.info, a Mitchiner 4897:

Here's a thread that may be helpful (or not):

Nice coin in the style of the Western Satraps and the Gupta's.
