Hi, I have this silver coin from Severus Alexander AD222 - 235. I have searched for similar ones, (I believe it is an antoninianus), but I just cannot find the same reverse anywhere.

Is it a particularly rare coin? Any idea on its value? The year it was minted and where it might have been minted?

The condition on the reverse is particularly good in my opinion, pity it is missing the text on the right hand side.

Many thanks in advance.

SIZE:

Width in MM: 1.9
Length in MM: 1.85

Weight in grams: 2.6 grams.

I should also add that I have the certificate from Westminster, I've been through quite a lot of these coins and they seem to be correct most of the time so I trust that this is indeed a Severus Alexander Coin.

It is a denarius, the text is : concordia militum. The coins of tkis emperor are usually very common.

Many thanks. That's right, but I've checked the wildwinds page for Severus Alexander, and many others and I cannot find the same reverse, that is why I thought that there was a chance that it could be something...

That's because it's not Alexander, but rather his older cousin Elagabalus:

Elagabalus is a pretty interesting character if you aren't familiar with him.

Thanks for that Finn, well I would have never have second guessed the Westminster certificate but there you go, they got it wrong! It is indeed Elagabus.

Just reading about Elagabalus. At 14 years old he became Emperor and at 18 years he was assassinated! Rough that, very rough. Interesting read this.
