Question About Odd Sasanian Coin - Barbarous?

Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 07/26/2016 4:33 pm Hi everyone, I am presently trying to learn more about Sasanian Drachms, and I saw this coin and was rather confused by the particular ways in which the details are formed - the lettering on the obverse seems crude and off, the crown seems oddly formed, and the fire-altar attendants seem very misshapen. echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 07/26/2016 5:52 pm I've been studying this type for some time and have to admit sometimes I still have trouble IDing some of them. specially when it comes to the mint. From what I can make out on this coin is Kavad I and an official issue. Report this Post to the Staff

I must admit that I'm surprised that it's an official issue given how much it seems to deviate from typical coins of Hormazid IV & Khosrou II - which I'm more familliar with. Any guesses what this coin might be worth for insurance purposes? (realize that the hole takes it down a good bit) Report this Post to the Staff
