Hi

I recently bought this medal, and was wondering if anyone knew anything more than ive been abel to find out.

Its a really nice piece, iv'e included a few scans on the post. It has a makers name of I.LE.BlANC.F, and is initialled I.B.On the other side. It is dated 1719 in Roman numerals, and has a young bust of Louis XV, The condition is extremely good, not sure exactly how to grade it. It is approx 4 cm in diameter.

Thats about all I can say, I found a similar example of sale elsewhere with the same bust and the same ingraver, but I dont know why it was made, what the design on the front related to, what it's really worth etc.

Any comments would be great, Thanks very much

I would guess it has something to do with being an apt student? Like a really old-school gold star. =)
