I got an email from Heritage Auctions with the following in it and thought I would share it with everyone.

You Can Become Eligible for a Free Red Book

Heritage is pleased to announce a special offer for numismatists! If you win a lot in a Heritage coin Internet Auction that ends in March, we will send you a copy of A Guide Book of United States coins, 2009 Edition, free of charge!

This book, also known as The Official Red Book, has a retail value of $14.95, but the information contained within is worth its weight in gold to coin collectors. Prices, grading information, pictures of types and varieties, and numismatic articles make this the one book any numismatic library must have!

Heritage Sunday and Tuesday Internet Auctions are designed so that every coin collector has a chance to participate, regardless of their collecting budget. These auctions feature coins certified by NGC, PCGS, ANACS, ICG, and NCS. Most are valued between $20 and $5,000.

To qualify for a free Red Book, simply win any lot in one of our Sunday or Tuesday Internet auctions. Dealers are not eligible, nor are winners outside the United States. The offer does not apply to the March Phoenix ANA Signature Auction, nor to the March Online Session. The books are available from the publisher on April 8, and will be shipped as soon as possible after we receive them; maximum one per winner.

Same advertisement on several coin forum web sites. Obviously since it states OUR I assume the poster of this post works directly for them. I keep thinking it is against most forum rules to advertise your company or one you work for. If not then everyone will start adverising on these web sites. These forums will become full of advertisers instead of coin colletors and dealers.

Do the moderators allow such advertising? If so we should tell everyone to start doing this.

Carl, I don't know what your issue is with this post. I emailed Dad and asked him if it was ok to post the info from the email. I was told it was fine.
I don't know how this constitutes any kind of advertising. I don't work for Heritage.

I paint houses in New Hampshire. If I was to post a link to the home builder I work for that would be advertising.

Sweet, I should totally check this out. I might find something cool for $20-30 bucks and get a RedBook thrown in. Sounds like a winner to me, thanks for the info onejinx.

When you own your own websites and put in 60 hours a week maintaining them, you may certainly run them as you see fit. This is not the first time you have run from forum to forum complaining about cross-site duplicate posts. My suggestion... when you see the same title... don't click on it. Pretty simple.

The part in bold? He cut and paste the email, they're not his words as he clearly states... "I got an email from Heritage Auctions with the following in it and thought I would share it with everyone."

FYI, Brett does not work for Heritage and who cares anyway? A free RedBook is a free RedBook. Lighten up already.

Sorry about that Bret. But the way that post was stated with the OUR and WE I was assuming you worked there. DIdn't realize it was cut and pasted. And yes I know if allowed so be it. I was only concerned that to many others would start posting advertisements instead of what these web sites are basically for. Again, I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

Just what I needed. Another reason to buy something.
