tenpo tsuho 100 mon, ca. 1835-1870 some kind of trial piece.
It is not in the JNDA catalog, and there is very little information online.
The usual tenpo tsuho 100 mon coins have an oval shape with a square hole in them.

This 'coin' appears in David Hartills book 'Early Japanese Coins' under Decorative Coins, Amulets etc.
Page 86, #7.41 & 7.41a - Tablet shaped.Obverse: Top, Tem Po Tsu Ho (The currency of the Tempo period).Bottom, Hyaku Mon Ban (Hundred Mon Size). Reverse: Sen Za (Mint).
Mentioned in the description - "It is not clear if these pieces are trial, amulets, or just fanciful inventions".
This is a 'must have' book for collectors of Japanese coins!
