The contest prize is:
Three uncirculated Poland 2 zlote coin-themed coins. Coins on coins!

First-Coin-That-Comes-To-Mind---The-Contest

The contest question is:
Which coin first comes to mind when you think of a given country?

Please note that you shouldn't post your entry list here in this thread. Instead, send it to me by e-mail or private message. Why, you may ask. The reason is that if everyone's entries were posted, there would always be a possibility of you inadvertently seeing someone else's answer which in turn, could influence yours. To eliminate such "foreign" influence, please send your entries to me directly. You may make a post here stating that you sent me a message. I will acknowledge receiving your entries.

Below is a country list, a template which you should send me*.
Add your answer at the end of each line.
Example: if you think about the US and the first coin that comes to mind is the 1974 aluminum cent, you should write "US - aluminum cent".
Please don't use catalog numbers in your answers, instead write a common name of the coin, or a description (with dates if necessary).
* as you have surely noticed, the list is not a complete catalog of all countries in the world. You can add others if you know the coinage they produced but it's not a must. And conversely, if you don't really know anything about coins of Iceland (which is on the list) without checking the Internet or consulting Krause, just put a dash or write "none" in that line. However, don't do so too often, I'd like to have at least half of the lines in my list filled.

The basic list or template for your entry:

US -
Canada -
Mexico -
Cuba -
Panama -

Brazil -
Argentina -
Chile -
Peru -
Colombia -

Finland -
Sweden -
Norway -
Denmark -
Iceland -
UK -
Ireland -
Spain -
Portugal -
France -
Netherlands -
Belgium -
Switzerland -
Germany -
Italy -
Austria -
Greece -
Poland -
Czechoslovakia -
Czech Republic -
Slovakia -
Hungary -
Romania -
Bulgaria -
Yugoslavia -
Albania -
Lithuania -
Latvia -
Estonia -
Russia/USSR -

Turkey -
India -
China -
Thailand -
Malaysia -
Indonesia -
Philippines -
South Korea -
North Korea -
Japan -

Egypt -
Algeria -
Morocco -
South Africa -

Australia -
New Zealand -

General rules:
- One entry per member.
- Editing entries is not allowed, unless its point is to clarify a description which is vague, or unclear to me.
- There must be at least 12 entries for the contest to be valid and prize awarded.
- The contest lasts until I make a post which says "contest closed" no less than 2 whole days.
- As there is no "correct" answer to the question you're answering, the prize will be awarded randomly.
- If you don't want the prize but would still like to participate, please write "no prize" in your message. Such entries, if any, will also count towards the required total.
- Prize will be sent using regular priority mail.

Once again, please send me your entry by e-mail or private message, don't post it here for everyone to get ideas from it

PM received.

No, I suppose I'd need a much larger sample for this to be useful in any way.
If there were 100 answers, it would be an interesting read.

However, with 1 entry after 20 hours... you get the idea.

Maybe let it run a bit longer next time? It's vacation time for most people now, I think.
