I agree with Thad...graded it'll command better bids from surer buyers.

Also, if you put it on ebay for 7 days, it doesn't really matter what the starting bid or reserve is...even 99 cents will eventually creep up to over $1000.

I think that you need to have the coin authenticated ,, it bears none of the known die markers ,even the D of VDB looks like it has been tampered with or damaged ,,while this does not mean it is not a legit coin it does make it one that seriously needs to be authenticated .

So submission for this one is a must ,,before any speculation on value is made . the coin is high VF probably VF-35 and it would not surprise me to see it in an EF-40 slab if authentic .

Metalman...good observation about the D. Given that, the B now looks wrong, too.

erocknlv: the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln series is coming next year. This is a very popular series for coin collectors, and most people expect a very strong market, especially in the key dates. The 1909 S VDB will be worth much more a year from now than it is today...or so I would speculate. Don't sell it now unless you absolutely need the money. You could easily see a 50% increase in value next year.
