I've been looking at a lot of Kennedy half dollars lately. Here's a slabbed example. How would you all grade it?

Wow, I have seen alot of those and not just lately. That one is one of the nicest I have seen in awhile. Very clean facial area, you don't see that much, but that hit to the neck has to hurt ! The reverse is also nice with just a few hits, mostly to the shield. I would say this coin may reach elite territory for Kennedy halves. I am gonna go out on a limb and give it an MS-66, but I think that hit to the neck might hold it back. Very nice coin ! A solid 65 for sure

I'd say MS 63; a few too many nicks on the reverse, IMO

Too many nicks for BU 50cents, and I'd hit amac44's guesses down a notch.

It's starting to look like SuperDave is right about digital photos exaggerating every little nick. Certainly PCGS didn't see the nicks and hits to be as severe as most posters thought. Many of my slabs seem to have abrasions that are basically invisible to the eye but they show up in the photos. This photo of the slab for example does not show the coin to be nearly as nice as it is.

It may be time to invest in some equipment to improve my photo quality.

Nice coin, I agree with you Jaobler. My coins never look as good in my pictures as they do in hand, especially the ones in slabs.
