Royal Canadian Mint - Canadian artist Calder Moore has created a full-sized kaleidoscope design for the coin's extra-large surface. Countless polar bears come together in a complex pattern of amazing beauty, some face-to-face to create the outer ring of the design, while smaller bears stand back-to-back to form the rings in the centre. At the extreme edge of the coin, the image of the polar bears become more obvious while individual design features endless shapes. The design is meticulously crafted with astounding detail, and beautifully enhanced with myriad shades of translucent blue to capture the reflective essence of a kaleidoscope.

Hmmm well I must admit the 60mm thin 1oz planchet is sort of intriguing but......looking at the pics I can't help but be reminded of the common saying "don't judge a book by its cover". While that does hold good merit, in reality unless a person rips off the entire cover, it still reflects upon the appeal of the pages inside.

The Kaleidoscope case and mini kaleidoscope..don't shoot me but what on earth were they thinking? Oh my goodness, maybe it's because I'm a granny but designs such as this sure don't help rid RCM from the stigma of peddling what some refer to as granny bait. Maybe that's why I almost feel as I have to wince to look at the photo of the case with the little toy kaleidoscope in the bottom drawer. In my opinion it just diverges way too far from coin collecting.

But glad you like it New, we all have different tastes in things. Our opinions of what we choose to acquire are influenced by a lifetime of personal experiences involving likes and dislikes.

I notice another reference to "first". Is the word contained in every promotion?

I did order this subscription from the RCM and Bromberg displayed it on the shopping channel. Wow, I really like the size of this series. On TV it looked better than on the RCM website.

Rest in Peace

The colours on this coin reminded me of the 2007 Polar Year - Plasma coin

@Dcadon

That is a beauty.

Thank you for posting. The colours are similar. The difference is the width on this new series. Thinnest coins produced by RCM.
