Hi, all!

I am an experienced philatelic researcher/author on the 1851-1860 U.S. 1c postage stamp produced by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co., later Toppan & Carpenter & Co. and seek to learn about parallels with banknote production by the firm, its antecedents, predecessors and competitors.

I have the Whitman Vol.1, and was hoping you could help me with advice as to where to turn next to learn about production techniques, plate specifications & sources, inks and other technical aspects of banknote production from the 1830's to 1860's which might help me get a broader perspective.

Thanks in advance for your help.

David
